Creating Business Opportunities Together

Dell Project and ComputersAgain

DELL Reconnect Program

Reconnect is a no-charge computer recycling program for consumers and businesses. The program is intended to raise awareness of the importance of responsible computer disposal and give residents and businesses a free and convenient way to do the right thing with their unwanted computer equipment.

All proceeds of value recovered from the recycled computer equipment go to Goodwill to support job training and employment services programs.  Consumers and businesses can drop-off computer equipment at any participating Goodwill location throughout the region. Reconnect provides an environmentally responsible solution for computer recycling.

ComputersAgain

ComputersAgain, formerly an independent 501(c)3 known as Northeast Ohio Computer Exchange, has been rebooted as a program of Goodwill Industries of Greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio, Inc. This new program aims to provide affordable computers to non-profit organizations and low-income individuals/families by collecting and refurbishing unwanted computers that would otherwise be destroyed. Most commercial enterprises replace their computers every three years and it is estimated that the number of computers in US landfills will exceed 400 million by 2010.

ComputersAgain is a great way to help reduce the 24 million computer shortage that affects schools, non-profit organizations, and low-income families in the United States. Children in homes with computers are more likely to stay in school and receive better grades than those students who do not have a computer in their homes. Having a computer is a prerequisite to connecting to the internet, and anyone who lacks access to these tools is at a great disadvantage in today's world. By making technology affordable, we can help many people acquire the education and tools needed to gain marketable skills in computer technology.
